As of June 7, 2022, San Joaquin County has 385,040 active registered voters of an estimated population of 432,516 eligible voters. It takes about 900 people to conduct a countywide election, including county staff, election officers and election night workers.

Voters should return their vote-by-mail ballot by mail with prepaid postage as long as it's postmarked on or before Election day and received by June 14. Voters can also drop off their ballot in-person to a secure ballot dropbox, a voting location, or their county elections office by 8 p.m. on June 7.

Voters will decide who occupies statewide offices such as governor, U.S. senator and attorney general, seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, State Senate and Assembly, judgeships, county government offices and spots on city councils, school boards and water boards.

You also have until 8 p.m. to drop off your mail-in ballot at a polling place or a registrar of voters office (12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk in LA County; 2724 Gateway Drive, Riverside in Riverside County and 777 E. Rialto Ave., San Bernardino in San Bernardino County).

Your county election office can answer questions about registration status, sample ballots/voter information guides, polling place, drop box and vote center locations and voting by mail. County election offices are typically open for in-person or phone assistance on weekdays during business hours; some offer expanded hours during election times.

If you are registering or re-registering less than 15 days before an election you will need to complete the Same-Day Voter Registration process and request your ballot in person at your county elections office or polling location. For more information on voter registration and voting locations, contact your local county elections official.

Petitioner admitted at both his criminal trial and disciplinary hearing that he signed and filed the pertinent documents with the registrar of voters in 1982. The first two documents (voter registration affidavit and declaration of intent to run for office) were dated February 10, and listed petitioner's residential address as 4365 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Chino (Mt. Vernon address). A week later, on February 17, he filed two more documents (declaration of candidacy and appointment of circulators) reflecting the same address. On March 12, petitioner filed a second voter registration affidavit, changing his home address to 4315 Valle Vista Drive, Chino (Valle Vista address). fn. 3 Petitioner also admitted that he has always known these documents called for the place he currently, actually lived (not where he intended to live in the future). He also knew that a Chino residence was necessary to qualify as a candidate for municipal court judgeship in that district.
